A missing teenage girl from Orange County was found safe, and the adult male sex offender who was hiding her has been arrested by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives from the Orange County Sheriff's Office contacted the PCSO on Monday, April 13, 2026 with information regarding a runaway girl who was believed to be with a man in Dundee.
PCSO detectives went to the residence of 30-year old Alexis Diaz-Toledo on Shepard Avenue in Dundee to look for the missing 17-year old.
Diaz-Toledo denied any knowledge of the girl's whereabouts and said that he had not seen her for a couple of days; he initially refused to let detectives search his home.
At the scene, detectives determined that Diaz-Toledo had violated the terms of his sexual offender registration, by not reporting two of the vehicles that are kept at the residence.
Detectives eventually searched the home and found the missing juvenile hiding in Diaz-Toledo's bedroom closet.
The juvenile was returned home and Diaz-Toledo was arrested and taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center. He was charged with: Sex Offender Fail to Comply with Registration Requirements (F3, 2-counts), Interfering with Custody of a Minor (F3), Sheltering a Minor without Notifying Parent (M1), and False Information to LEO in a Missing Person Investigation (M1).
Alexis Diaz-Toledo has been a registered sex offender since his conviction in 2014 for Lewd, Lascivious Battery on Victim Between 12-15 Years Old.
